No way, I can't believe it! It's so completely unreal, man! You know what I'm talkin' 'bout, aight? Aight? You don't! Man! What's so totally unreal IS... it's method profiles day! Car'azy, man! Car'azy! Look for this special feature today, and then not tomorrow, and then that next day that starts with a "thur..." and then not for like four more days, and then...Today we have Ryan Williams! Ryan gets to play good cop at method! I'm wanting to know who plays bad cop over there? (No one I bet, they're all good! Hey, it's method!) I bet you'd like to know more about this swell guy! So here ya go:
1+ Your name, please? And do you have a nickname at method?
Ryan Williams. Most people have latched on to my job title, The Good Cop. They will also reference me in jest as The Doctor, since I have a PhD in Toxicology. This especially happens when I make a captain obvious statement like “Puppies are Cute”.
2+ What was your first method lust?
Pink Grapefruit dish soap was the first product we started using at home and introduced me to the brand. Since then I go crazy for the Ginger Yuzu hand soap. When it is in the office people must think I am crazy since I will walk out of the bathroom and incessantly smell my hands.
3+ What brought you to method, the company? (How did you become interested in a career with method?)
I was previously working for a traditional CPG company and had a chance to meet with Adam. We share a similar environmental philosophy and personal values that made it an easy fit.
4+ What is your title/dept. at method, and what is it you do there? How long have you been with method?
My role as Good Cop is within the New Product Development group. I work with our Pod teams to ensure that we address product safety, compliance and regulatory during product development. I have been having fun in this role for about a year now.
5+ What is the biggest thing you are currently doing, besides using method products, to help out the environment?
We are pretty lucky that our jobs involve helping out the environment and I get to participate in the decisions around packaging choices, formulation development and manufacturing practices. On a personal level not using plastic bags this year is sort of my resolution. We are also conscious of our solid waste at home where we try to reduce first and then compost and recycle everything we can. One funny thing I have done in the spirit of the environment is to fill a 2-liter bottle with water and put it in my toilet tank. The displacement reduced the amount of water used per flush.
6+ Who's the last person you've turned onto method?
I met another scientist at a Toxicology meeting that was extremely skeptical about our brand and practices. I got to sit down and talk to her about her concerns and our approach to product development. She is now signed up in our advocacy program!
7+ Which one best describes you as a person? Pink Grapefruit, French Lavender, Cucumber, or Go Naked?
Gotta go off your list with my Ginger Yuzu or Cut Grass or Sea Minerals or that Vanilla Peppermint from holiday….alright this is the hardest question because I associate with all our fragrances at different times. I think my ADD is kicking in.
Thanks Ryan! So yeah, going off the list there... Don't tell me, you were one of those people that didn't listen to their teachers in school, weren't you? Come on, you know you were. Well grab those ADD meds, and join us Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next method profile!
Our previous method profiles:
